New Works in Progress
Death Roll of Texas Lawmen 1835 to 1899
University of North Texas Press
Release date: Fall 2011

An all new, collaborative effort is underway to produce a truly unique, dramatic and fascinating chronicle of Texas History!  Cliff Caldwell and Ronald G. DeLord of the Texas Peace Officers Memorial Foundation are laboring to produce a unique reference work never before compiled. Organized law enforcement efforts in Texas began shortly after our Independence in 1836.  From that point to today the number of Texas Lawmen killed in the line of duty is a truly staggering tally. Ron and Cliff are assembling a log of all of those lawmen who gave their lives in the line of duty prior to 1900.  The count approaches seven hundred!  Their new book “An Anthology of Texas Lawmen of the 1800’s” should hit the bookshelves by the end of 2011. It will not only be a fascinating read, but also a must for researchers, historians, families of the lawmen contained in the book and collectors of Texana in general.
